Syed Mohammad Lokman is an MSc student at the University of Chittagong in the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Program. His current master’s thesis work focuses on the identification and characterization of macroalgal flora in Bangladesh. He was the finalist of the 3 Minute Thesis Contest of Bangladesh region. Lokman was actively involved with Disease Biology and Molecular Epidemiology research group as a research assistant and worked on various projects, including epidemiological investigation on Diabetes and its association with cancer, population genetics study of Thalassemia, and variations of Spike protein in SARS-CoV-2. He was awarded a NIPS fellowship for doing an internship on brain neural circuit remodeling in Homeostatic Development Lab, NIPS, Japan. His research interest includes immunology, epigenetics, cancer biology, and bioinformatics.
