S M Mahbubur Rashid
About
S M Mahbubur Rashid is a young educator, and life sciences researcher. His research works primarily focused on understanding disease mechanisms of pancreatic disorders including diabetes, congenital hyperinsulinism, and cancer. He is also working on developing marker-assisted early diagnosis of different types of cancers. He did his research works in collaboration with several local and international researchers and medical doctors. He is very enthusiastic to translate academic research works into industrial applications.
Mr. Rashid loves to disseminate the knowledge he gathers. He has published a number of articles in reputed international peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has authored a couple of books and book chapters targeted at university-level students.
He did his graduation and post-graduation from the Department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology, University of Dhaka. He earned his doctoral degree from the University of Manchester, one of the top-ranked universities of the world with the financial support of the very prestigious Commonwealth Scholarships, UK.
He is involved in and founded various social initiatives. He is currently the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Association of Biotechnology Graduates (BABG). He is the co-founder and one of the directors of the Network of Young Biotechnologists of Bangladesh (NYBB). He is one of the trustees and currently the Vice-President of Cancer Care and Research Trust, Bangladesh.
Mr. Rashid is presently an Assistant Professor and the Student Advisor of the Department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology, University of Dhaka.
