Chayan Kumar Saha
About
Chayan Kumar Saha has always been intrigued by how computer softwares led to advancements in biological research, by making remarkable projections out of biological data analysis. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Later, he also had a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics from Lund University, Sweden. Now, Mr. Saha is pursuing doctoral studies in the Dept. of Molecular Biology of Umeå University, Sweden. His PhD research is focused in understanding the evolution of protein function and structure, and developing Bioinformatics tools for comparative molecular evolutionary analyses. Besides doctoral studies, he is also the President of ISCB’s Regional Student Groups, Umeå Branch, Sweden.
Mr. Saha has always prioritized learning and experimenting with new things. Before leaving for higher studies, he had served as an Oncology Associate of Sales and Marketing and had three years of working experience with two globally recognized pharmaceutical companies, Roche and Sanofi. Apart from his job responsibilities, he has coordinated and assisted different research projects that deal with data from cancer patients. He was an active member of the organizing committee of 1st Dhaka Head and Neck Cancer Conference 2014 and 1st Bangladesh Breast Cancer Conference 2015. Currently, he is involved part-time with a genomics data service company in Bangladesh, X-genomics as a Bioinformatician. He is also the communication lead in CCRTB. He loves music and graphics designing.
